Donkey Kong Country 2 was the sequel to the first Donkey Kong Country game on the SNES and was the first appearance of Dixie Kong, as well as the first time the big ape himself was in trouble. It seemed King K. Rool didn't quite learn his lesson the first time, and admittedly came very close to winning this time around. Using Diddy, Donkey's nephew you'll head through "Crocodile Isle" in search of treasure, Kremlings and the big ape. Along the way you'll meet several Animal friends, Rambi, Squawks and Enguarde making a return showing, the various members of the Kong family each with their own quirks and talents and lastly hunt for bonus areas and hidden items because after all, that's how it was done in Cranky's day....

Characters

The Kongs

Diddy Kong: The "hero" of the game, or "would-be" in Cranky's eyes, Diddy just wants to prove that he can star in his own game just like Donkey. With your help he just might succeed...

Dixie Kong: Diddy's "girlfriend" and co-star in this game, Dixie boasts the ability to hover with her ponytail. She's out to prove that not all damsels are in distress.

Donkey Kong: The main monkey is captured this time around by the Kremlings. It's up to Diddy and Dixie to get him home safely, but are they in over their heads?

Funky Kong: DK's brother and the hippest ape in the jungle. While he's surfing away, he'll let you take his new and improved Barrel plane to travel all over the island. Provided you've reached that area first of course. For 2 coins it's a bargain, plus you fly free after your first trip.

Cranky Kong: The head of the Kong family and undoubtedly the surliest and most sarcastic character EVER. When he's not putting you down or bashing the new "graphics" the games nowadays use, he'll be giving you hints about the levels in his "Monkey Museum." But not without a price...

Wrinkly Kong: The kind and motherly head of the Kong family, Wrinkly runs a school in which she tries to teach Kremlings various subjects. All I'll say is look at the board and you'll see how well they receive said knowledge, but in spite of that she's the person to see if you have any questions about the island, the game or if you want to save your game. Cheers to her.

Swanky Kong: The flashy and charismatic Swanky runs the bonus game where you can win fabulous prizes. Just pay to play and answer the questions. You can win 6 lives per area if you play all three levels.

The Baddies

Kaptain K Rool: The King has traded a crown for a Kaptain's Kap and a krew of Kremling pirates. His identity crisis may seem odd for all of you coming off of DKC but don't be fooled, he's even more dangerous now than in Donkey Kong Island.

Klubba: You'll see this "jolly" fellow in his Kiosks starting in Crocodile Cauldron. He guards a toll booth with a golden barrel behind it. Where does it lead? You'll have to play to find out. How do you get past him to do so? Kremkoins. Find them in the hidden bonus levels.

Krow: The world 1 and 5 boss. In the first match, she attacks by dropping eggs at you. In the second encounter, her ghost comes back to haunt you.

Kleever: A giant, living, sword that is the boss of world 2.

Kannon: As his name suggests, he fires cannons at our heroes. He can either shoot indestructible cannonballs or barrels you could jump off of out of his cannon. He was known as Klump in the original Donkey Kong Country.

The Friends

Rambi: A returning favorite of DKC, Rambi the Rhino is a powerful animal buddy of the Kong family's that can bash through Kremlings and obstacles alike. Just bash away and see what you may uncover!

Squawks: Another returning great, Squawks's role improves a great deal here, as he now carries Diddy and Dixie through levels where they wouldn't be able to progress otherwise. He comes in two versions...

Green: Standard Squawks, capable of firing eggs from his mouth at foes.

Purple: Weaker Squawks, not able to fire eggs. They also can only fly down, not up.

Enguarde: The third and last returning animal, Enguarde the Swordfish is perfect for those underwater levels where you need some extra muscle. With his new Supercharge maneuver he can break obstacles just like Rambi on the surface. Keep an eye out.

Squitter: The first new face, Squitter the Spider sports six legs each with a styling sneaker and the ability to attack and make platforms with webs. He's best used when you either have terrain too hazardous to traverse on foot or if there's something in the air you need to reach...

Rattly: Rattly the Rattlesnake is another major player in the animal list, with a spring like body, if there's somewhere you need to go, he can jump you up there. Not to mention foes don't like him jumping on them, not a good ice breaker.

Clapper: Clapper the Seal doesn't have that major a role here but don't let that trick you into thinking he's useless, with his ability to lower the tempature of water to make it safe to inhabit, he's just as vital as the other buddies.

Glimmer: Glimmer the Angler fish has his own level where his light will be the only way for you to see in the murky underwater depths. For such a little guy, he brightens up a large area...

Worlds

Gangplank Galleon: Those of you who played DKC will remember this ship as the one K.Rool was on. It's a easy area, that will teach you the basics of the game and show you how secret the levels can be. Krow, the area guardian doesn't take too kindly to stowaways....

Crocodile Cauldron: Who turned up the heat? Your reflexes will be tested as you try to keep your Kongs out of burning lava, avoiding the various Kremlings and at area's end, keeping a phantom weapon from skewering you.

Krem Quay: The Isle's swamps are home to many nasty creatures and also many secrets. From ship and underwater levels to your first bramble one, you'll be busy to be sure. Just make sure you keep Krudgel away from you when you see him.

Kremland: The "amusement park" that thrills it's patrons to death! In addition to the roller coasters you'll also be traveling into several hives to meet the Zingers. King Zing Sting however doesn't like monkeys. Or anything for that matter.

Ghostly Grove: While you're trying to keep your wits about you, the grove will take you through haunted houses, extremely windy areas and at the end you'll meet a foe that wants revenge....from the grave.

K. Rool's Keep: This is it. The final showdown between you and the Kaptain. Watch out, the castle's levels are varied and should be tackled with care, you've always been on enemy turf but this time you're knocking on their door.

The Flying Kroc:...OK so maybe I lied when I said the keep held the "final" showdown. While this area only has one level it's one that will turn your hair white with frustration. Wrinkly and Funky show up to give you support as you finally corner the Kaptain....

???: Why's this here? Simple, there exists a "Lost World" for the Kremlings. In this world are only a handful of levels, made to challenge and drive you insane slowly and surely. It's here that you face the true last boss of the game and it's here you'll have to go if you want a 100% score.
