Hero Coins (also called DK Coins) are items in the Donkey Kong series. They are large golden coins with a "DK" emblem in the center.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, there is one Hero Coin hidden in each level. They improve Diddy Kong's ranking as a video game hero in Cranky's eyes. In the Lost World levels, they are they reward for completing a Bonus Room.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Hero Coins are held by Koin enemies in each level. Getting the Hero Coin requires the player to throw a Steel Keg properly, usually bouncing off a wall, to get it to slam into a side of the Koin that is not protected by his shield. Collecting all forty-one Hero Coins in this game gives Dixie and Kiddy access to the final five Banana Bird caves.
