Description

The Ice Key is an important part of Stop 'N' Swop, in that it is the only non-egg item to collect that is related to this hidden feature. It is a large spinning key made of ice.

In the Games

Banjo-Kazooie

In Banjo-Kazooie, the Ice Key is first seen by most players in Wozza's cave in Freezeezy Peak. It is behind an ice wall on a nook that features an orange Jinjo. The fact that it can be seen at virtually any time after arriving at Freezeezy Peak is probably what lends itself to its recognizability. It is also one of the three items shown to Banjo and Kazooie by Mumbo Jumbo in the 100 Jiggy ending. The ice wall can be destroyed by typing in a code in the Sandcastle in Treasure Trove Cove, "CHEAT NOW YOU CAN SEE A NICE ICE KEY WHICH YOU CAN HAVE FOR FREE," which will allow the Ice Key to be collected.

Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, the Ice Key appears again (though this one is generally speculated to be different due to its differing size and location). This time, it is found inside a Banjo-Kazooie Game Pak in Jinjo Village. Once Banjo learns the Grip Grab move, he can enter a small, icey cave in Jinjo Village, where the bouncing B-K game pak awaits. Upon busting it open, the ice key falls out, this time, a collectible with some real purpose. Once you gain access to an icy vault in Hailfire Peaks, (through the waterfall area of Glitter Gulch Mine) you can open it with the Ice Key, revealing a Mega Glowbo. Take it to Humba Wumba in the Pine Grove for a super-special transformation, which turns Kazooie into a dragon.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

The Ice Key has been spotted in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts videos showcasing Banjoland, a level made up of areas from previous Banjo-Kazooie games. In the Freezeezy Peak area, it appears to be behind an ice wall once again. This was confirmed by MundoRare after they played the demo.[1] In addition, there is apparently a Stop 'N' Swop CD next to it. What purpose the Ice Key (and Stop 'N' Swop CD) will play in the game exactly is unknown. In addition, there is a picture in Banjoland of Banjo holding both the Ice Key and the Pink ? Egg.

There is also an Ice Key imprint on top of Boggy's Gym in Showdown Town.
